  1. You have a very solid artist statement; no pretentious bullshit, just a concise description of your intent. You nailed it. Speaking of nails, there's a lot of nails and tacks and pointy things that look painful in your art. I understand these are part of your lexicon which, I admit, I am having one helluva time trying to decipher. But that's your whole point! (no pun intended). I am not above being one of those who look at your pieces and feel grossed out. But that's your point! So, even though I find it as icky as anybody, that's because it works! I'm very excited these particular drawings and paintings have finally found the right zeitgeist. You're in a vanguard of an expressionism not seen since your beloved Bacon, Dix, Grosz and Nolde rocked the world so many decades ago with their oftentimes painful-to-look-at images. They were expressing the horrors of their times, and you are too. Well done, sir, well done. Alice Allman
